Sports and adventure technology retailer, NavWorld, have announced a three-year partnership with one of South Africa’s top women’s cycling teams.
During this time, they will provide Team Bestmed-ASG with the latest Garmin Sport products as well as training, warranty service and technical support through all its branches and call centre.
“At NavWorld we are passionate about sport and our partnership with Team Bestmed ASG gives us the opportunity to support one of the best ladies Cycling teams in the country,” says NavWorld CEO Roan Rossouw. ”As an exclusive Garmin retail and distribution partner and the only authorised service provider in South Africa, NavWorld will help to keep the ladies team performing at their best, race after race.”
The technology supplied by NavWorld will support the Bestmed ASG Ladies Cycling Team in their various training programs and throughout the tough racing season. NavWorld is supplying each team member with the Garmin Edge 520 bike computer and for training off the bike, a Forerunner 230 watch.
During the three year sponsorship, NavWorld will keep the team’s equipment up to date and offer any services they require on their devices. Moreover, the team will also benefit from the latest technology when it hits the shelves. NavWorld’s country-wide support infrastructure will also ensure that the team don’t have to go one day without their equipment.
Rossouw says the team has already received training for the Garmin devices they use but ongoing training will be provided when needed. This is to ensure that the team gets the most from Garmin’s technology.
Brand awareness was also a key component of the sponsorship, he says.
“We are planning on generating a lot of content around the team for our digital and social media platforms. We want to show our customers just what is possible with the right technology at your fingertips”
NavWorld is one of the fastest growing lifestyle, outdoor and adventure retailers in SA, says Rossouw.
“We have a strong focus on the Garmin brand and are the only authorised service partner in the country.”
He says the technology would not only help the riders track their training, but would assist them in races where GPS navigation was a requirement.
“The bike computers also work closely with the running watches that we supplied, allowing the team to maximise their workouts.”
Rossouw says the coach can now also remotely monitor the team to ensure they train and perform optimally.
“This is a great feature as the team is usually scattered all around the country.”
The data generated by the Garmin devices is invaluable in today’s professional training regimes.
Besides retail and service centres in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban, NavWorld also have an online store that delivers country wide.
“From the most basic fitness watch to the more sophisticated multi-sport unit, we truly cater for every adventure,” said Rossouw.
